PPF or ceramic coating? Which one suits you

The two treatments do different jobs. Three questions to work out which one you need.

These two treatments are often confused, but they solve different problems.

What does PPF do?

PPF (paint protection film) is a clear, flexible polyurethane film applied over the paint. It is a physical layer: stones, insects and light scratches hit the film first. Some films close fine surface scratches by themselves when warmed.

What does a ceramic coating do?

A ceramic coating is a chemical layer that bonds to the paint. It adds gloss, repels water and dirt and makes washing easier. On its own it does not protect against stone chips or deep scratches.

Which one suits you?

  1. Do you drive a lot on the road? Motorway and intercity driving raise the risk of chips; PPF stands out here.
  2. Do you want gloss and easy washing? That is exactly what a ceramic coating is for.
  3. Will you keep the car for a long time? Consider both: a ceramic coating can go over PPF.

On budget

PPF usually costs more, so starting with the areas that take the most impact (bonnet, front bumper, mirrors) is a sensible route. A ceramic coating is a more accessible start for the whole car.

Either way

Cleaning and, if needed, correcting the paint before application decides the result. A coating seals scratches, it does not hide them. Let us inspect your car and tell you plainly what suits it: get a quote or request a booking.
